25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act

July 24, 2015

Join us as we commemorate the Americans with Disabilities Act

On July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law by President George H.W. Bush, marking a milestone civil rights action for all disabled Americans. One of the most comprehensive pieces of civil rights legislation, the ADA helped eliminate discrimination against disabled Americans and guaranteed them the same opportunities afforded the mainstream public. The act, along with its 2008 Amendments, ensured equal opportunity for employment, government services, public accommodations, commercial facilities and transportation. The ADA jumpstarted numerous organizations that aim to protect disabled Americans’ rights to this day.

Now 25 years later, Disability Justice is privileged to represent thousands of disabled Americans in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. All of us at Disability Justice are advocates fighting for disabled Americans’ rights on a daily basis. We proudly commemorate the anniversary of a civil rights act that afforded enormous protections for the disabled community.
